How to Mega Evolve Pokemon

Mega Evolution is a new form of temporary evolution exclusive to the Kalos Region in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Mega Evolution Pokemon are identified through simply adding “mega” to the front of their name. Example: Mega evolved Mewtwo is: Mega Mewtwo.

To evolve your Pokemon into a Mega Pokemon, you must have your Pokemon holding an applicable Mega Stone. The playable character must then also use their Mega Ring, which will contain a key stone. Using the Mega Ring will resonate the Mega Stone the applicable Pokemon is holding and trigger Mega Evolution.

Once Mega evolution is activated, the Pokemon will become a Mega Pokemon and power up. It has also been shown to change Pokemon types and Pokemon’s abilities.

Mega Pokemon

  • Mega Venusaur: After defeating the Professor you can select Bulbasaur  as your second starter. He will come with his applicable Mega Stone, Venusaurite. You can pick up the stone at Vernal Avenue Stone Emporium located in Lumiose City.
  • Mega Charizard X and Y: After defeating the Professor you can select Charmander  as your second starter. He will come with his applicable Mega Stone, Charizardite. You can pick up the stone at Vernal Avenue Stone Emporium located in Lumiose City.
  • Mega Blastoise: After defeating the Professor you can select Squirtle as your second starter. He will come with his applicable Mega Stone, Blastoisinite. You can pick up the stone at Vernal Avenue Stone Emporium located in Lumiose City.
  • Mega Alakazam:  Alakazite can be found in the Reflecting Cave on floor B3F after the main game quest has been completed.
  • Mega Lucario:  Lucarionite is held by the Lucario given to you.
  • Mega Kangaskhan:  Kangaskhanite is found  in the Glittering Cave after the main game has been completed.
  • Mega Pinsir: Pinsirite is found in the Santalune Forest after the main game has been completed; it is exclusive to Pokémon X.
  • Mega Heracross: . Heracronite is found in the Santalune Forest after the main game has been completed; it is exclusive to Pokémon Y.
  • Mega Gyarados:  Gyaradosite, is found in Couriway Town after the main game has been completed.
  • Mega Aerodactyl:  Aerodactylite is given to you in Ambrette Town.
  • Mega Absol: Absolite is given to you in Kiloude City.
  • Mega Mewtwo X and Y: Mewtwo is holding  Mewtwonite X or Y upon capturing him.
  • Mega Ampharos: Ampharositeis given to you in Azure Bay.
  • Mega Scizor: Scizorite is found in the Frozen Cavern located behind Abomasnow.
  • Mega Abomasnow: Abomasite is given to you in the Frozen Cave where you obtain Abomas
  • Mega Houndoom: Houndoomite is found on Route 16 after the main quest is completed and is exclusive to Pokemon Y.
  • Mega Tyranitar:  Tyranitarite is found in the Cyllage Gym in Pokemon X after the main game has been completed.
  • Mega Blaziken: Blazikenite is given with Torchic in the special Pokemon event giveaway.
  • Mega Gardevoir:  Gardevoirite is held by the Ralts you can trade for in Lumiose City.
  • Mega Mawile:  Mawilite is found in Shabbneau Castle during the post-game.
  • Mega Aggron: Aggronite is located inside of the Cyllage Gym during the post-game in Pokemon Y.
  • Mega Medicham: Medichamite is given to you in Laverre City after the main game has been completed.
  • Mega Manectric: Manectite is found on Route 16 in Pokemon X after the main game is finished.
  • Mega Banette: Banettite in found in the Cave of Emptiness once the post-game begins.
  • Mega Garchomp: Garchompite is found on Victory Road once the main story is completed.
  • Mega Gengar: Gengarite is given to you in Laverre City.
