How to Get Mew | Mew Glitch | Where to Catch Mew
Mew Glitch
There are 4 Mew Glitches in the first generation of Pokemon games. For those of that do not know. Mew is the psychic legendary Pokemon, fabled to exist and is Pokemon number 150 in the Pokedex. Throughout Pokemon Red and Blue, there will be references this fabled Pokemon, but no one seems to know much about it.
For years, the only way people could complete their Pokedex was to attend special promotion events, including those at Toys R Us, or to use Game Sharks. It wasn’t until well after the games had been on the shelf that a Mew glitch was discovered, instantly renewing interest in the games and leading to fans finally being able to obtain the powerful Mew.
How to Get Mew – Method 1
The quickest way to obtain Mew can be done with this method. DO NOT defeat the Jr. Trainer in the grass on Route 24, nor the trainer inside of Misty’s gym. As usual though, you must defeat the Nugget Bride trainers.
You must also have captured or traded for an Abra that knows Teleport. Upon doing so, heal at the Cerulean Pokecenter (so that it is logged in your game progress and you can teleport there later). With Abra in your party, stand north of the Jr. Trainer so that you are just out of his reach and he is just below the screen. You should now save the game just in case you fail and have to try again. Take a step towards the trainer, just in their line of sight and reach and instantly press START. Go to your Pokemon party and have Abra use Teleport.
When you do this, the trainer’s exclamation point will come up, as if you are entering a battle, but you will be teleporting away. You will notice that you cannot access your menu buttons at this time either. From this point, go into the Gym and battle the Swimmer trainer you left behind earlier.
Upon victory, head up route 24 and after a few steps a menu will appear, close it. This will initiate a battle with a level 7 Mew. All you have to do is capture it now.
Where to Catch Mew – Method 2
This method on where to catch Mew is similar to the first Mew Glitch. Repeat the same steps until you teleport away. Go towards Route 25 and battle the Youngster (make sure you do not enter into any battles in the meantime) and defeat him. From this point, walk towards Cerulean City and after a few steps the menu will pop up. Once again, close it and battle/catch Mew.
How to Get Mew | Mew Glitch -Method 3
Get just out of sight of any trainer in the game, just as was done in the first Mew Glitch and press START and either Fly or Teleport to Cerulean City. Go up Route 24 where the Youngster is with the Slowpoke and battle him. Fly/Teleport to Lavender Town and walk west towards Route 8. A menu will pop up after a few steps and just like the other methods, close the menu and Mew will appear.
