Pokemon News:

Nintendo Is Hitting Big

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have been out for almost a month now, and the sales are high; not only for the games, but they’re also increasing the sale of the Nintendo 3DS handheld as well.

In the 3 weeks since its release, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have sold a total of 1.5 million copies in the United States alone, counting both physical copies as well as digital downloads. These numbers are from the first 10 days of being sold; Nintendo has yet to release updated numbers for the rest of the time of sales.

Both Alpha and Omega have also help increase the sales of the Nintendo 3DS systems. When compared to the sales in November of 2013, sales have increased by about 40%. This increase in sales is also attributed to the release of Super Smash Bros. 3DS, which is currently the best selling independently portable game in the United States for 2014. And, like Pokemon, has shifted over 1.5 million copies, both physical and digital.

As for the WiiU, sales of both software and hardware have increased by about 10% overall, and 90% for the given sales period, compared to 2013. Super Smash Brothers WiiU is leading the software sales with 710,000 copies sold, and about the same number of Amiibos. The most popular Amiibos are Link, Mario and Pikachu (in that order). Conclusion: recent Pokemon games and accessories are a hit.
