Pokemon X and Y, the first 3D entry into the popular Pokemon series, has now become the fastest Nintendo 3DS game to reach one million units sold. Revealed on a Nintendo infographic, it seems that Pokemon X and Y wasted no time in accomplishing this feat either.
Reaching one million units sold in just one day, the previous runner up was Mario Kart 7, and that took the title four weeks to accomplish the feat. In addition to becoming the fastest 3DS game to reach one million sales, it became the fastest selling title on the Nintendo E-Shop for the Nintendo 3DS.
Pokemon X and Y seemingly assisted in the sales of additional Nintendo 3DS hardware, with additional hardware unit sales increasing in the weeks following the title’s release. Although, analysis of this sale has not been provided to account for a potential upswing that would have naturally occurred due to the start of the holiday season beginning.
By selling one million copies in one day, Pokemon X and Y also became the 9th Pokemon game to sell over one million units within its first month. In addition to these numbers, the level of internet activity, including Tweets, discussing Pokemon has risen.
