Pokemon Bank

After years of having to trade Pokemon over one by one from one version to the next to keep your favorites active, Nintendo is finally giving us some relief on the process. Pokemon Bank is an online app that lets trainers, Pokemon battlers and Pokemon breeders manage their Pokemon from online “PC” boxes similar to the in-game boxes, but available on the internet.

Gamers will be able to deposit, withdraw, store and manage Pokemon storage boxes from the internet. Being compatible with not just the current generation of Pokemon games, the Pokemon Bank will also serve as a way to transfer your Pokemon between generations.

As with Bill, the developer of the Pokemon Storage System, Pokemon Bank will also utilize a developer character to help guide players through the process of utilizing the Pokemon Bank. Brigette is being introduced to the series as the creator of Pokemon Bank and will greet you the first time you use this feature.

How to Use Pokemon Bank – Independent of Game Copy

Through your Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 2DS, you will be able to link up your online Pokemon Bank boxes to your in-game experience. When you make an in-game deposit, it recognizes that on your online box as well. If you lose your copy of Pokemon X or Pokemon Y, your Pokemon will not have to be lost ever again.

There will also be little concern over space. As a Pokemon Bank subscriber, you will have access to 100 online storage boxes that can hold a total of 3,000 Pokemon. Compare that to Gamecube’s Pokemon Box which could only hold half as much and was not connected to the internet.

The system is currently set up to function with Pokemon X and Y only, but can be applied towards more than just one copy of the games. The potential for expanding this to cover previous games and future games is still ongoing as well. Plus – no longer will you need two DS’s to move Pokemon from one game to another!

Pokemon Bank Free Trial

Pokemon Bank launches on December 27th and will allow a 30 day free trial period from that date until January 31st, 2014. At that time there will be a recurring yearly charge of $4.99, which will allow for this service to provide support and function for years to come.

Bringing over certain Pokemon will also trigger special events in Pokemon X and Y in the Kalos Region! Be sure to download Pokemon Bank and at minimum try out the 30 day trial period beginning on December 27th.

The Pokemon Bank was delayed until February 6th, 2014.
